Egg of Necator americanus (hook worm) - 70 x 38 microns - saline faecal preparation. This hookworm of humans has a prepatent development of several weeks to several months; infections are diagnosed by finding eggs in the faeces. This hookworm is found throughout America, southern Asia, Melanesia, Polynesia, central and southern Africa cf. A. duodenale - southern Europe, northern Africa, northern India, northern China and Japan.
